Francesco Augurio started to study music at the age of 8 years helped by his grandfather Francesco on the footsteps of his own father Luigi, being a well-known trumpet at the Metropolitan in New York. In 1992 he graduated in piano from the Conservatory “R. Franci” in Siena. After attending courses on harpsichord and basso continuo at the Music School in Fiesole tutored by B. Sachs and A. Fedi, he graduated in harpsichord from the Conservatory “F. Morlacchi” in Perugia.

In 1997 he obtained a University degree on Political Science from Università degli Studi in Siena with a thesis on “Music and Society in Italy in Sixties and Seventies (supervisored by prof. M. Degl’Innocenti). During his studies he also attended some advanced courses with E. Gatti, A. Fedi, B. Sachs, N. Schaaps, L. Ancellotti continuing his concert activity in Italy and abroad playing in different positions i.e. solo, duo, trio, quartet, pianist for the choir. Since 1999, he is in charge of teaching music and history in several Upper Schools in Italy and he is also an Artistic Director for Events organized by Cultural Foundations, Municipalities and Region Administration Offices. He has been for years a researcher at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and published many essays on History and on social costume; he is also the author of some entries in the Biographical Dictionary of Italians, published by Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani.

He recorded a CD of music for the piano repertoire, entitled “Steps of notes… for freedom“; together with the Austrian musician Christian Germaine, the compilation "Desire for colours"; the anthology of music and poetry “Ascolti diVersi. Poetic conversations from Two Hundred to Nine Hundred” with the headmaster Giuseppe Caruso; his more recent work is “The harmonies of the elements” recorded together with Aniello Montano, professor of philosophy and the actor Eugenio Bove.
